He’s the Congressman who sleeps in his office on a cot, and was the only Republican who refused to put any earmarks into budget bills. He had never run for office before and had zero name recognition. At first no one took him seriously. After all he was only polling at 4%, and was not even allowed to participate in the debates. He went on to beat a 6 term incumbent by 20 points! This same incumbent outspent Jason 6 to 1 and was endorsed by the President, and both of the Senators from Utah. Also, all three of the primary Utah newspapers endorsed Jason’s opponent. While the incumbent was spending loads of money for staffers, Jason had 1000+ non-paid volunteers helping him get elected.
